Nicola Cerini graduated from RMIT BA Textile Design in 1991 and in 1995 established her design studio and brand Nicola Cerini Australia, creating original textile designs for a range of bags, accessories, and homewares.
In 1999 her characteristic ‘Plasto’ range was introduced and quickly became a signature of her business. Nicola now collaborates with designers and design companies applying her imagery to a broad range of products, from floor rugs to ceramics.
Nicola’s philosophy emphasises beauty, practicality, high-quality, natural materials and an environmental conscience. Her immediate surroundings, love of nature, travel and passion for Australia’s native flora and wildlife inspire her designs.
Alongside her business achievements Nicola maintains her textile arts practice. Exhibiting both locally and abroad, she shares her skills through lecturing, internships and mentorships.
Nicola is passionate about textiles and Australian design. She is dedicated to creating beautiful objects and continues to explore wider applications for her designs.
